Paris attacks: Obama faces critics over Islamic State strategy

In the wake of the attacks in Paris, President Obama's strategy for combating Islamic State militants has come under fire. Republican presidential candidates have accused Mr Obama of a lack of leadership in dealing with the conflicts in both Syria and Iraq - and of allowing Russia to seize the initiative. Even some senior Democrats have questioned the White House's approach to containing the extremist threat. Mr Obama has hit back, accusing his critics of talking tough but failing to come up with detailed alternative plans of their own.
