The group, at a press conference it held in Abuja yesterday, said it was satisfied that Justice Umar has questions to answer over allegation that he demanded N10million bribe to quash ‎criminal case involving a retired Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Mr. Rasheed A. Taiwo. SNG, in a statement that was signed by its National Coordinator, Barrister Benedict Ezeagu,‎ asked President Buhari to without further delay, liaise ‎with the leadership of the National Assembly to effect the formal removal of Umar as CCT chairman, in accordance with the constitutional provisions. According to the group, “This will ‎no doubt be a litmus test of President Buhari’s avowed anti-corruption stance”, saying “the integrity of our judicial process and criminal justice system cannot be mortgaged on the whims and caprices of a few mischievous political interest”.
