World Malaria Day

Malaria is an illness caused by a bite from the female anopheles mosquito. In Nigeria people seem to have a certain amount of immunity because it is more prevalent.

The weather happens to be conducive for the mosquitoes to thrive. However the weather is not the only element responsible for the disease

Mosquitoes thrive on stagnant water which is always taken for granted. Having said this, the Nigerian government has always championed the cause of keeping the environment clean. Governor of Oyo state takes cleanliness serious as observed in the way street cleaners are seen all over the state, compared to the previous PDP administration under Ladoja and Akala.

3 years ago Former governor off Rivers state paid Governor Ajimobi a visit and was surprised as to how clean the streets were.
He was surprised because of the impression he had about the state. This impression was not wrong.

The governor Ajimobi Administration simply declared a state of emergency on cleanliness.

Part of the measures currently going on is the compulsory environmental exercise held every Thursday.
