MORAL HAZARD IN SOCIETY AND THE DETERRENCE OF INFORMATIONAL HAZARDS ON SOCIAL MEDIA; BY SADIQ UMAR ABDULLAHI!

The increase in posting of devastating and horrific pictures on social media has become too common at the expense of morals,kindness,respect,sympathy in society. It is not the best way of informing family members or loved ones about the death of an individual. It is imperative to prevent such communication of devastating events and apply precautions for the simple fact that the circumstances or situation they are in might worsen the news conveyed through social media. The bearers of such horrific news should consider aspects like the families of the victims receiving such news while they are driving? What if they have high blood pressure,what if they have a heart condition and collapse right on the spot after seeing the picture. The visual spreading of such calamities need to be told subtly with wisdom and condolence's which makes it unfortunate cos some people are of the opinion that posting such things on social media is the appropriate and faster way of communicating such messages. On the contrary,it is faster in complicating the matter. How would they feel if they log on their Facebook pages and see the picture of their mothers,fathers ,sisters,brothers and their loved ones. There are so many incidents where the person involved will be the one to post his injuries on social media by him or her self. Thats how bad it is in the days of technological advancements we live in at this day and age. This is more of a reason why social media needs to be regulated and controlled. A massive awareness campaign needs to be carried out in order to enlighten people about the hazards,implications and consequences of how the posting and sharing information on social media will reflect and the implications involved. SOLUTION; "SOCIAL MEDIA UNION",Both government and private regulatory body to intervene and expose fake blog's,impose penalties and fines for unreliable information,impose imprisonment of 6 months as punishment on false information and more than one time offenders (THOSE ON PROBATION),offenders with the purpose of defamation of character. May God almighty continue to bless,guide and protect us with his infinite mercy and wisdom. Amin.
